MA EXHIBITION 1 LITHOGRAPHS
My creative practice explores the emotional connection we have with landscape, memory and place. These lithographs portray the small seaside resort of Clarach Bay, bustling with holiday-makers in the summer but largely deserted out of season. The muted colours depict the winter light and raw elements.
The work investigates symbolic notions of liminality. The ephemeral spaces between land and sea and the transitory nature of the seaside holiday offer a feeling of temporal distance. This and the battle against coastal erosion evident in the sea defences imbue the lithographs with a sense of melancholy and memories of past times.
