Mokulito - Wood Lithography
Mokulito is a print technique developed by Ozaku Schisi In Japan in the 1970's. Researched more recently by Ewa Budka, Mokulito utilizes and adapts the principles of lithography allowing the use of wood as a matrix, rather than the usual limestone block or metal plate. Summer 2017 I was privileged to spend a week working with Ewa at the Art Print Residence in Barcelona.
Mokulito allows the printmaker to produce combine many of the unique qualities of lithography while incorporating woodcut into the image.
